To get the full benefit from the government, we recommend contributing $2,500 a year for 14 years, and then an extra $1,000 in the 15th year. That way, you’ll receive the maximum basic Canada Education Savings Grant of $7,200, plus any other grants you’re eligible for.

Don’t worry if you miss a year—you can still catch up by contributing more in the future to make up for it.

Remember, every little bit adds up! If $2,500 a year isn’t possible, just contribute what you can. The government will match 20% of your contributions, up to $500 per year, or $7,200 over the lifetime of the plan. Keep going, you're building something great!
