RESP Guide:Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG)

Get a Grant worth up to $7,200

The government will provide a Canada Education Savings Grant (CESG) based on 20% of the contributions you make to your child's RESP, to a maximum of $400 per year, per child, and a lifetime maximum of $7,200. Learn more.

We'll make sure you get the money you’re entitled to.

We'll even take care of the paperwork for you, and ensure that your grant is deposited directly into your plan. Your grant will be invested in the same secure investments as your contributions, earning the same rate of return over the years, so you'll gain even more.

Any unused portion of the CESG can be carried forward to future years. (The maximum CESG that can be received annually is $800.)

All you need is a Social Insurance Number

To register your plan under the Tax Act and to qualify your child for the CESG, you'll need your child's Social Insurance Number (SIN). We recommend you get it right away. www1.servicecanada.gc.ca/en/cs/sin/010.shtml
