Becoming a psychologist has been a dream of mine since I was around 10 years
old. After many years of schooling, I am now Dr. Michelle Duwyn! Certainly,
getting a university education is an expensive undertaking. I am very thankful
that very early in my life, my parents began putting money away into the Canadian
Scholarship Trust Plan. During each of my four years of undergraduate training,
I received scholarship money from this source. I was also very fortunate to
have won an additional scholarship, The Carter Award, in 1997 from the Canadian
Scholarship Trust Foundation. There is no doubt in my mind that receiving this
financial assistance has helped tremendously in allowing me to realize my dreams.
Thank you Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan!

I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Canadian Scholarship Trust Foundation
and to my parents for enrolling me in their scholarship plan. It was such an
easy decision for me to go to college because the money was there, waiting for
me. Four years later, when I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology,
I was debt free, unlike so many of my friends who came out of college mired
in debt and all the stress that goes with it. I am now the mother of two boys
and they are, of course, enrolled in the Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan. I
am so grateful that I can give my sons the same advantage I had through an organization
I know and trust.

I quickly discovered how expensive being a medical student could be. I suddenly
had rent to pay, groceries to buy, textbooks and anatomy atlases to purchase,
and a $16,000 tuition on top of everything else. I am very fortunate that as
a child, my parents anticipated my desire to enter into a post-secondary education,
and they began putting money away into the Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan.
I received scholarship money from this plan during each of my four years of
undergraduate training. This was a huge help to my family. My parents have routinely
expressed how the Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan was one of the best decisions
they ever made.

Although my journey as an archaeologist began in my childhood, it was because
my parents had enough foresight to invest in my future by contributing to the
Canadian Scholarship Trust Plan that I have been able to pursue my goals and
dreams. Because of my parents' investment, both my brother and myself have been
able to focus on studying while at university. Thanks Mom and Dad for investing
in me! I couldn't have done it alone!
